Fannuel holds a (BBusSci) from The University of Cape Town where he majored in Actuarial Science, he is a CFA charter holder and a qualified actuary with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the United Kingdom.

Fannuel’s involvement with investments started whilst he was a final year student at the University of Cape Town in 2007. Upon completion of his Bachelor of Business Science degree, he joined Prescient Investment Management as a fixed income analyst.

Over the three years at Prescient, Fannuel had vast exposure to the process involved in managing bond and cash portfolios. In January 2011, Fannuel joined Balondolozi investments as a Fixed Interest Manager. In 2014 Fannuel assumed the responsibility of leading the investment team as Chief Investment Officer and is directly responsible for managing the Fixed Interest Funds.
